Aston Martin Virage : A fine comeback

Published on March 5, 2011 in Geneva by Gilles Olivier

This English firm has offered the Virage sport model between 1989 and 2000. Two versions to choose from, a coupe and a convertible. These vehicles have replaced the Aston Martin V8 and, in 2000, they were replaced by the majestic V12 Vanquish.

The 2011 Virage models

The new Aston Martin Virage models, also offered in coupe and convertible versions, come into position right between the DB9 and DBS models.

True to their brand style, the new Virage models are different from other Aston Martin products, notably because of the new unique design front bumper and of the more visible rocker panels.

Even lighter than before, the Virage line vehicles have benefited from a technological approach called Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM), which was applied to construction of the structure and bodywork. Essentially, it’s a composite material made of aluminium, carbon fibres and magnesium.

The cockpit contains an all new navigation system developed in association with Garmin, a 700 watt sound system, a free-hand Bluetooth and many applications compatible with your iPhone.

Mid range type power

Being between the DB9 and DBS models, it is only normal that the new Aston Martin Virage models be equipped with an engine which also is in between in terms of power.

This model is thus equipped with a 6,0 litre V12 engine with 490 horsepower and 420 lb/ft torque. This impressive cavalry is joined to a robotized Touchtronic six speed box
