All Wheel Drive Ferrari FF Concept

The Ferrari Four, recently introduced to customers through Internet, will eventually replace the 612 Scaglietti model which first appeared in 2004.

Ferrari engineers thought it a good idea to equip this vehicle with an all wheel drive (AWD) system, a first for this rearing horse brand, as well as with a new body of the hunting break type.

The Ferrari Four Concept

Unlike the 612 Scaglietti model it replaces, the future Ferrari presented here as a concept vehicle will offer four full-size seats.

A hunting break type of body was chosen or, if you prefer, a family type high luxury model oriented towards the needs of an active clientele, into sports and financially well off. This type of aesthetic approach had its days of glory back in the ‘70s.

4WD technology

The AWD system on the Ferrari FF Concept is a in-house realization called the 4Ruote Motrici . It is said to be very light and integrated to the electronic system of the vehicle.

The sport model will also be equipped with driver controlled suspensions, magnetorheologic shocks (SCM-3), exclusive to the brand, as well as with Brembo ceramic brakes.

Its 1 790 kilo weight (3 946 lb) is spread on a ratio of 47 % at the front and 53 % at the rear.

The unique V12 engine

Under its long hood, one evidently finds a very powerful if not stupendous 6,2 litre V12 engine putting out only 660 horsepower and 504 lb-ft torque. This powerhouse is linked to a sequential box with a seven speed double clutch system.

According to the manufacturer’s data, the FF model will go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.
Top speed is claimed to be 335 km/h.
Average fuel consumption is of 15,4 l/100 km.
CO2 emissions are said to be 360 g/km.

We would like to point out the fact that the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti model was graced with a 5,7 litre V12 engine producing 532 horsepower and 434 lb-ft. torque. Six speed manual and sequential boxes are offered.

In a world premiere, the Ferrari FF Concept has just been revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show.
