Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe : A fine comeback!

Published on March 7, 2011 in Geneva by Gilles Olivier

In 2000, Mercedes-Benz added a small three-door hatchback type coupe vehicle to its C-Class offerings. This low-range model has reaped great success in Europe, at least in the months following its introduction, saw an excellent reaction from the Gaulois (French speaking citizens of Canada) here in America and was almost completely shunned by our neighbors to the south.

Today, this manufacturer is ready to strike again by unveiling its new coupe in the large family of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles.

Designed and developed on the basis of the E-Class coupe series, this new model offers slightly smaller dimensions than the C-Class four-door model.

After an aesthetic makeover, all C-Class model cars inherit, among other things, a new front grille resembling the one on the seductive SLS AMG model as well as a completely redesigned interior. It is only befitting that this good looking coupe should benefit from these great improvements.

Unlike the preceding model, this new coupe shows off a silhouette which is much more seductive and pleasant to the eye. This will no doubt allow for increased sales volumes, even with our neighbors to the south

This time around, this new C-Class coupe offers four full-size seats for its passengers.

A multimedia interior.

Unlike all new Mercedes-Benz C-Class models, this coupe is equipped with a dashboard that can accommodate a new 3D type GPS system. Furthermore, it will be possible to navigate on Internet, once the vehicle is immobilized. A USB port and auxiliary inputs complete the package.

Smaller choice of engines

On the many European markets, the new C-Class coupe will offer a choice between only five engines, three gas powered and two on diesel fuel. The  high performance C63 AMG version will also be offered with a 6,2 litre V8 motor putting out 443 horsepower.

Officially launched at the Salon de Genève car exposition, the new C-Class coupe will be put on sale as of June on European markets.
