The 2012 Mazda3 and the MINAGI concept vehicle from Mazda have kicked things up a notch in terms of protecting the environment while promoting fun and safety.

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) will show off its state-of-the-art innovative SKYACTIV technology at the upcoming New York International Auto Show, where they’ll also unveil their MINAGI concept vehicle for the first time in North America and their remodelled 2012 Mazda3 for the first time in the United States.

SKYACTIV is a group of technologies that bring together diesel and very high-output internal combustion gasoline engines, as well as entirely redesigned manual and automatic gearboxes, and an advanced chassis and body. All of these components help improve every aspect of the driving experience, including performance, handling, fuel consumption and vehicle safety. The 2012 Mazda3 will be the first vehicle to receive Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-G ultra-high-output gasoline engine paired with the SKYACTIV gearbox later this fall. Nearly one in three Mazda cars sold in the world is a Mazda3.

Remodelled for 2012, the Mazda3 will be equipped with the SKYACTIV drivetrain. Plus, its passenger compartment and body offer a new, more refined design, as well as new safety features.

The MINAGI is a compact SUV and is the first concept vehicle to fully incorporate the new SKYACTIV technologies and Mazda’s new KODO (the “Soul of Motion”) design theme, which was initially part of the SHINARI concept car introduced last year.

Combining Mazda’s most recent technologies and design features, the MINAGI sets the tone for the brand’s next generation of vehicles. Think of it as inspiration for a future production model.
