Chevy Impala to Receive 302 Horsepower V6?

Published on May 21, 2011 in New Models by Dan Fritter

It may not be the rear-wheel drive pavement-pounder it once was, or the desirable executive’s car it used to be, but apparently there are still those that care about the Chevy Impala. And for those that care, this is big news: for 2012, the Chevy Impala will come with 302 horsepower as standard.

Trading the anemic standard engine, the 2012’s newfound power will come in the form of a new-to-the-Impala 3.6 litre V6 making the aforementioned 302 horsepower and 252 pound feet of torque. Also debuting beneath the hood of the 2012 Buick Lacrosse, the V6 may sound like a proverbial drop in the bucket of the Impala’s outdated nature, but it just might help bolster the long-in-the-tooth sedan’s sales until its eventual update arrives in 2014.
