Chevy Camaro 45th (Undeserved) Anniversary Edition Debuts

Published on June 2, 2011 in New Models by Dan Fritter

Way back in 1967, Chevrolet revealed their Mustang competitor; the Camaro. Quickly becoming an American icon, the car grew into a bloated and overpriced shadow of its former self in the early to mid ‘90s, leading to its eventual demise in 2002.

However, after once again allowing the Mustang to run away with the ponycar market in its absence, General Motors decided to resurrect the Camaro in 2010… which would make 2011 its 37th actual year of production. But apparently we’re not supposed to notice the car’s 8-year absence, as GM has just released this: the 45th Anniversary edition. A stop-gap model that will bridge the gap between this and the next model-year Camaros, the special edition (which will not be limited in quantity) will feature new materials within the convertible’s cockpit, a new steering wheel, and a new suspension package that was apparently developed for the new top-rung, and possibly more honest ZL1.
