BMW Considering Adjusting Nomenclature

Published on June 18, 2011 in News by Dan Fritter

For years, BMW has stoically stood by the same badging structure as they’ve used for decades. The vehicles attached to the unassuming 3, 5, and 7 series badges on their trunklids have earned a level of respect that’s only equaled by the level of international recognition they enjoy. But apparently BMW would like to add the numbers 2, and 4 to that mix.

Considering changing the names of what we currently know as the 1- and 3-series cabriolet, the possible 2- and 4-series would follow the 6-series footsteps in denoting the two-door, drop top versions of their more familiar coupe and sedan platforms.
