BMW Introduces New M5

The fifth generation of one of the world’s quickest sedans, the new BMW M5 has finally surfaced in all its official, turbocharged glory. Looking glorious in a particularly nostalgic blue hue, photos show slightly bulgier bodywork hiding a 560 horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.4 litre V8 that combines with a seven speed dual clutch gearbox for a 0-60 sprint of just 4.4 seconds. Promising more power, a more accessible powerband, and greater economy than the outgoing V10, the new M5’s powerplant also boasts a slightly less convoluted control system; ditching the much-maligned 13982-button M-drive system in favour of just two steering wheel mounted controls capable of recalling previously recorded settings for things ranging from throttle sensitivity to head-up display mode.
