Jeep Shelving Pickup Project?

Published on July 2, 2011 in New Models by Dan Fritter

It made a lot of sense to many that Jeep should produce a small pickup truck. After all, the Dodge Dakota isn’t exactly a hot commodity on dealership lots, and Jeep’s new JK platform has already proven its ability to underpin an awesome looking, and equally well-performing Jeep pickup for such discerning customers as the Egyptian military. In fact, the notion of a Jeep JK pickup truck has been so popular that Mopar has finally produced a pair of products that will convert your new Jeep into a pickup truck in the form of the JK8 kits.

But, alas, it would appear that the majesty of a Jeep truck has been lost on Jeep’s bosses as recent reports indicate that any plans to produce a Jeep-branded pickup truck have been shelved while Chrysler’s assets work on other projects. However, all is not lost, as Jeep CEO Mike Manley stated that when the truck finally does see the light of day in North America, it may also be treated to an international launch.
