Maserati to become Porsche competitor?
Maserati, much like its sister company Ferrari, is one brand that is always spoken of in hallowed terms. Considered by many to be slightly more high-end than other luxury brands like BMW, Audi, Jaguar, and even Aston Martin, the Italian firm has struggled to bring their products to market in a truly meaningful way, selling just 5,675 units last year.
But, you would expect better sales performance from a brand that produces some of the most soulful sedans and graceful sports cars on the planet, at prices that are surprisingly reasonable. And you wouldn’t be alone in that expectation; Fiat Group’s head honcho Sergio Marchionne also believes that Maserati can do better… ten times better, to be precise. Announcing plans to increase Maserati’s sales to over 50,000 units worldwide, Marchionne apparently believes that the iconic brands’ current expansion into markets like the small luxury sedan and SUV markets will push them into serious sales growth.
