Toyota Canada announces Voluntary Safety Campaign on certain 2011 model year Lexus RX 350 vehicles

Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today announced it will conduct a voluntary safety campaign involving 493 2011 model year Lexus RX 350 vehicles sold in Canada to replace the brake actuator. No other Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles are involved.

In the brake actuator of the affected vehicles which are equipped with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM), the calibration for the hydraulic control valves is incorrect. The calibration for the hydraulic control valves was incorrectly written and programmed into the brake actuators Electronic Control Unit (ECU).  Due to this condition, there is a possibility that the right front wheel may not be controlled properly during ABS (Antilock Brake System) or VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) actuation.  This could result in increased stopping distances and/or a failure to adequately correct excessive vehicle yaw.

Lexus will notify owners of the affected vehicles of the voluntary safety campaign by first class mail in mid September 2011 advising them to make an appointment with an authorized Lexus dealership to have the brake actuator replaced at no charge.

Lexus owners who have any questions are asked to contact their local Lexus dealership, visit www.lexus.ca or contact Lexus of Canada at 1-800-26-LEXUS (1-800-265-3987).
