Kiat Announcing Rear Wheel Drive Four Door Coupe

When Hyundai announced their intention to join the ranks of the rear-wheel drive luxury sedan market, there were plenty of naysayers. Having built an entire company on the production of small runabouts with their propulsion limited to the front wheels, it represented a paradigm shift within the company that has brought about a huge change in the company’s fortunes.

And now Kia looks to be doing the same thing. Bringing their first rear-wheel drive concept to the Frankfurt auto show, the Korean brand’s four door coupe looks to slot in between sibling Hyundai’s Genesis and Equus in terms of size, albeit with a substantially more sporting outlook on life. "I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: We are ready to fast forward to an all-new chapter," says the automaker's design chief, Peter Schreyer.
