Aston Martin V12 Zagato : Ready for the road

Published on September 12, 2011 in Frankfurt by Gilles Olivier

Aston Martin first launched the V12 Zagato in late May at the famous Villa D'Este Concours on Lake Como, Italy, where it overtook tough competition to be awarded the coveted Design Award for the concept and prototypes class.

In September, the new and very exclusive road version of the Zagato will be appearing at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. It will indeed go in limited production of up to 150 cars.

This sports car features a beautiful aluminium and carbon fibre body entirely designed by Italian coachbuilder Zagato, a long-time partner of Aston Martin.

Based on the highly acclaimed V12 Vantage, the V12 Zagato boasts a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 bhp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Only a 6-speed manual transmission will be available.

The road version of the Zagato should be ready by summer 2012, which means future owners will have to wait almost a year before driving their $544,000 (US) car.
