New Maserati Crossover: Cinqueporte?

Published on October 24, 2011 in News by Dan Fritter

When Maserati showed off a new crossover concept, the name Kubang raised a few eyebrows. Sounding ridiculously over the top, the name (which translates into some form of wind in an unknown Indonesian language) certainly didn’t fit with the current Italian nomenclature worn by the remainder of the Maserati lineup, and left many critics wondering what the production version would be called.

Well, it would appear that we now have an answer to that… and it’s exactly what you thought it would be: Cinqueporte. A name recently registered by Maserati in Italy, the name suits the five-doored crossover perfectly, and follows up the Quattroporte name currently worn by the brand’s luxury sedan.
