Chrysler Forced to Make Fiat Layoffs in Lieu of Sales Figures

Although we're unbelievably excited over the upcoming introduction of the new North American-market Fiat 500 Abarth that debuted in Los Angeles recently, it would appear that not too many people share our enthusiasm for the diminutive Italian hatch... at least, that's what the sales figures indicate.

In fact, according to the latest report, the little Fiat has been selling so slowly that Chrysler has been forced to lay off employees at the plant responsible for building its engines. Chrysler themselves pegged the number of employees receiving pink slips at 30, although the UAW claims it's closer to 100. In any case, the solution seems to be going back to the drawing board on the 500's marketing scheme... starting by firing Jennifer Lopez.
