Fiat Doblo Coming As Small Ram Sprinter

Published on November 25, 2011 in New Models by Dan Fritter

The Sprinter, formerly of Dodge, now of Ram, is one successful vehicle. One of the few companies to recognize the need for a European-style, large format cargo van here in North America, Dodge brought the big van into the market and instantly gained the praise of contractors, electricians, and just about anyone else that was tired of cramming gear into an Econoline or Express van. But, just as the Sprinter brought those looking for a larger van out of the shadows, Ford’s Transit Connect has done the same for those small businesses that needed the same sort of utility, only in a smaller package. And that’s a market segment Ram doesn’t want to miss out on.

So, the American brand will bring yet another Fiat product to our shores: the Doblo. Undoubtedly slated for a styling and nomenclature update prior to its 2013 launch, what is currently known as the Doblo will compete with the Transit Connect first as a cargo van, with the possibility of an upcoming passenger variant possibly being made available sometime after the car’s release.
