Suzuki to Participate at the Tokyo Motor Show

Initially, word was the Japanese automaker Suzuki would once again be absent from the roster at the Tokyo Motor Show, which is running from December 3-11.

But lo! It seems that all is well that ends well, and Suzuki will participate in the event after all.

Not only that, but the brand is planning to unveil three exceptional vehicles at the show:

-    Suzuki Regina
-    Suzuki Q Concept
-    Suzuki Swift EV Hybrid

Even though the Tokyo event has lost some of its prestige, it’s still the place  for unveiling unusual concepts. I’m not talking about futuristic cars here, I referring to those whose shapes are out of this world (and sometimes bordering on "deformed”).

Suzuki’s premieres:

Suzuki Regina
In recent years, new Asian auto shows – especially those in India – have been paying special attention to compact city cars. And that’s exactly the market the Suzuki Regina is after. From a style standpoint, this car offers neoclassical lines from the 60s. With an 800 cc engine, its fuel consumption is a mere 3.1L/100 km. The Regina weighs only 730 kg.

Suzuki Q Concept

Speaking of the bizarro vehicles that populate the Tokyo Motor Show, Suzuki’s Q concept definitely fits the bill. If the Regina is small, this one is microscopic. Consider this micro car something of an experiment in style, seating its two passengers one behind the other. Its electric engine is said to have a range of 45 km.

Suzuki Swift EV Hybrid

This car is no concept, it’s the prototype of a production model that will feature an electric motor with extended range. It will use an approach similar to that of the Chevrolet Volt, in which a small naturally aspirated gas engine serves as a generator to charge the battery.
