Toyota Prius C: From the Brochure Straight to the Production Line
We recently had the chance to get a sneak peek at the Toyota Prius C, thanks to a brochure that clandestinely made its way onto the internet. The “Prius C” name will be used around the world except in Japan, where it will be called the “Aqua.”
Toyota is officially presenting its new Prius C today. This hybrid vehicle will make its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens on December 3.
Pretty and versatile
In terms of style, this vehicle looks a lot like the Prius C concept presented in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Yes, that means they’ve opted for a hatchback configuration. As part of the sub-compact segment, the Prius C is expected to rival the future Honda Fit Hybrid.
Realistic measurements:
- Length: 3,995 mm
- Width: 1,695 mm
- Height: 1,445 mm
Essentially, it’s similar in size to the Mazda2.
Obviously, it’s a hybrid
The Prius C is powered by a hybrid system made up of a 1.5L gas engine producing 74 hp and an electric motor that tacks on another 61 hp. This time, Toyota has gone for lithium-ion batteries.
In total, this car should be able to deliver 100 hp.
An eCVT continuously variable transmission is included.
After launching in Tokyo, the Prius C is expected to make its North American debut in Detroit in January.
Sales of the new Toyota Aqua (Prius C) are scheduled to begin next month in Japan.
