One of Six Carbon Fibre Jaguar XJ220S' At Auction

That the Jaguar XJ220 is a horribly undervalued and under-represented supercar is a simple fact. That the even rarer XJ220S has almost been completely forgotten is just as simple. After all, when Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing built only build six of them, you can't expect them to be all that well remembered.

Which is a pity, when you consider what went into each of the six examples. Trading their lightweight aluminum bodies for lithe, lightweight and slightly aerodynamically improved bodies composed entirely of carbon fibre, each of the XJ220S' weighed in at just over 2,200 pounds and also benefitted from Tom Walkinshaw's work on the engine. As a result, the car produced an astounding 680 horsepower, and made for some equally astounding performance figures.

This particular car, repainted in the same shade as Lamborghini's Reventon and further modified with a titanium exhaust from TWR and further engine work, is said to produce an even more impressive 700 horsepower. And most importantly, it's for sale. Crossing RM Auction's block next week, the still impressive supercar will stretch most wallets with an expected price tag north of $300,000, but it's hard to imagine a better excuse for that second mortgage.
