New Toyota Avalon Revealed...

Published on April 7, 2012 in New Models by Dan Fritter

Well, after one hell of an artistic teaser sketch, Toyota has finally seen fit to debut the Avalon properly... and the result is, to be blunt, mildly surprising.

Having shown a sketch that aped the lines of some sort of supersedan, the production model isn't nearly as racy nor as aggressive as we were first led to believe. Oh sure, it's got a new Sport mode, and it promises to heap its newfound performance on the grave of the outgoing example, but at the end of the day it looks like a giant Hyundai. With a mammoth lower grille that's got to have the Veloster's designer's knickers in a twist, it's a far cry from handsome, and it'll certainly have its work cut out for it when it hits showrooms later this year.
