SLS AMG Cancelled!

Published on June 9, 2012 in New Models by Dan Fritter

Yes, you read that right, after this year Mercedes will no longer be producing the SLS AMG.

Instead, they'll be building these: the new SLS AMG GT. Because the world needed more meaningless letters brought into it.

But if you can convince yourself that you don't mind sounding like a bowl of alphabet soup when you tell people what you drive, you'll get to enjoy all the same features as the old SLS AMG, with many slight improvements. The engine for example, boasts 20 more horsepower (now producing 583), and results in a 0-60 time that's a tenth of a second quicker (now 3.6 seconds). Similarly, the adaptive suspension has been rethought, and now provides a more composed ride on stiffer springs and dampers. Inside, a new high-end interior package known as the Designo package allows buyers to select any of three available contrasting colour schemes and is comprised of Mercedes' best hides and a pretty awesome quilted stitching pattern.

And hey, if you're really hung up on the letters on the trunk, you can always just tell people you have one of those new Gullwings... they'll get it.
