Toyota Camatte Concept is cool for kiddies

It's been a long time since anyone could get overly excited about a Toyota product... but that wasn't always the case. From the old Celica to the since-departed mid-engined MR2 to the wild Supra Turbo, Toyota's past is flecked with quintessential young people's cars, and although the Scion FRS is certainly a step in the right direction, it's just that: a single step.

But if this concept is any indication, it would appear that Toyota's more than ready to embrace the young people's market again. Debuting at the Tokyo Toy Show, the Camatte Concept boasts such child-friendly features as replaceable panels and pieces (think Lego) that allow the vehicle to be completely reconfigured on the fly. Although tiny (just under 9 feet long and 4 feet tall), the Camette concept seats three, with the front seats intended for children while an adult sits in the rear seat. The layout grants steering privileges to the children, while the adult has access to the all-important brake and gas pedals. A neat idea, it's a concept that's certainly not ready for production, but does illustrate that creativity isn't totally dead at Toyota, and that's an undeniably good thing.
