Dodge Charger R/T Daytona Set To Impress L.A. Auto Show Attendees

The Daytona name first appeared in 1969 as a special aerodynamically-enhanced version of the Dodge Charger that saw great success in NASCAR competition.  Although it surfaced again in the mid-70's on a clone of the Chrysler Cordoba, it wasn't until the 80's when the Daytona badge was again associated with performance thanks to the introduction of forced induction versions of the Dodge Daytona compact hatchback.

In 2006, the Daytona nameplate finally returned home to the Charger, becoming an accessory package on the full-size sedan that could be ordered with the Hemi-powered R/T model.  It has been three years since the most recent retirement of the Daytona name in the Charger family, but at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week Chrysler will be introducing a new Dodge Charger R/T Daytona for muscle fans to get excited about.

What does the 2013 Daytona package consist of?  A bulging hood with black striping, a blacked-out honeycomb grille, a more aggressive front fascia, sport seats, and special five-spoke wheels round out the key aspects of the R/T Daytona.  The Dodge Charger R/T Daytona will be available in Billet Silver, Bright White, Daytona Blue, and Pitch Black paint hues, and only 2,500 will be produced in total.
