Ford has triumphed as the best-selling automaker in Canada for the 2012 calendar year.  Ford was able to sell 276,068 vehicles during the course of 2012, which is almost on par with its sales figures from the year before.  More than a third of models sold were F-150 full-size pickups.  Ford has enjoyed the top spot in sales in Canada for three years running.

Surprisingly General Motors lost the second position in the sales pantheon, which it held in 20111, to Chrysler, which posted 243,845 models moved for 2012 - a six percent increase over the previous year.  General Motors saw a concomitant 6.6 percent sales drop to just 226,825 vehicles sold for 2012.  Together, these three car companies represent 44.5 percent of the entire Canadian market.

Overall, vehicle sales in Canada rose by 5.7 percent, checking in at 1.68 million automobiles sold for 2012.
