2013 Porsche Cayman: the reinvented sports coupe

Published on January 17, 2013 in Montreal by The Car Guide

Revealed as a world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show last fall, Porsche’s Cayman sports coupe was overdue for a radical change.  One can state that with this new release, the brand’s famed engineering team did things very well indeed.

As usual with this manufacturer, the Cayman’s transformation came after the Boxster’s.

While both cars use the same engines, they all gain a few horses when installed under the Cayman’s hood.

The new coupe is still offered in Cayman and Cayman S versions, both propelled by horizontally opposed six cylinder engines (“flat six”), displacing 2.7 and 3.4 litres respectively, and making 275 and 325 horspower.  Two transmissions complete the drivetrain: a six-speed manual and a 7-speed double-clutch PDK automated manual.
