Chevrolet Cruze Diesel: The exception confirming the rule

Published on February 7, 2013 in Chicago by The Car Guide

In the last couple of years, the vast majority of new models presented by manufacturers were usually powered by naturally-aspirated powertrains, including hybrids.

On the other hand, German carbuilders such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen boldly offered Americans, somewhat successfully, turbo-diesel powered models.

American carbuilders, however, preferred to market diesel powertrains in trucks rather than automobiles.

The Chevrolet Cruze Diesel

This is about to change with Chevrolet unveiling a Diesel powered Cruze sedan at the Chicago Auto Show.

Mechanically, the sedan uses a four-cylinder 2.0 l turbo-diesel producing 148 horsepower and a whopping 265 lb-ft of torque.

Lordstown Ohio is the chosen site to produce the Cruze Diesel.

Expect dealers to receive the vehicle this Spring.
