'Hyundai Promise' Offers Sonata Buyers Chance To Return Their New Cars

There has rarely been a better time for Canadian car shoppers to buy a Hyundai Sonata, thanks to a new initiative that allows individuals to decide whether the mid-size sedan is truly for them before committing their hard-earned dollars.  Called the “Hyundai Promise,” the marketing campaign gives Hyundai Sonata shoppers the chance to take the car home and try it out for 30 days – and then return it within that period if they end up with buyer’s remorse.

Is there a catch?  Well, yes and no.  Hyundai is claiming that there are no financial penalties associated with returning a Sonata through the program.  The fine print, however, reveals that any returned car can’t have been driven more than 2,000 kilometres, or have been involved in a collision or been damaged in any significant way.

That seems fair enough – but somewhat more unusual is the need to demonstrate that the reason you are returning the Sonata is because you will be purchasing a ‘competing’ car from another brand at another dealership.  So essentially, yes, you can trade in your Hyundai, but only after buying a different car that was already on an approved list.

The Hyundai Promise is available on all versions of the sedan except the Hybrid model.  There is no published end date for the promotion at this time.
