AJAC Doles Out 2013 Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards in Toronto

The Automotive Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has announced its Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year winners at the 2013 Toronto Auto Show this week.  Taking home the hardware are the 2013 Honda Accord sedan and the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 T.

The awards are doled out based on a vote conducted by the members of AJAC, who test practically every vehicle on the market during a week-long driving extravaganza in Ontario known as 'Test Fest.'  The chance to pilot so many cars and trucks back-to-back allows for real-time comparison of top models, which in turn leads to a well-informed opinion from which to decide where votes should be allocated.

180 automobiles in total were involved in the Test Fest event, each one representing a new or significantly revised model for 2013.  In addition to being overall winners, both the Accord and the Santa Fe 2.0 T took home individual class honors, with the Honda snagging the "Best New Family Car (under $30,000)" title, and the Hyundai accepting the mantle of "Best New SUV / CUV ($35,000 - $60,000)."
