Hyundai HCD-14 Concept: Designers Unleashed

Published on February 14, 2013 in Toronto by Alain Morin

Created at the Hyundai North American Design Center in California the concept HCD-14 reached public eye at the Detroit Auto Show. The design hints at stylistic elements expected on future high-end models.

Called “Liquid Metal”, a style Hyundai deem bold (the rear however looks suspiciously like a certain Audi A7...) it should add a little pizzazz to the top of the range models from the Korean carbuilder. Don’t expect the inverse opening rear doors to reach production however. The interior is particularly avant-garde although future production models will predictably utilize a more conventional dash board.

Mechanically, the vehicle uses the direct injection 5.0l Tau V8. Power is still undisclosed but it is no secret an eight-speed automatic transmission will power the rear wheels. Somewhat similar to the actual Genesis, don’t you think? The HCD-14 introduces fiber optic recognition technology to identify the driver and initiate the start sequence.
