If it were any more aerodynamic, it would kill you!

Following in the footsteps of the 1-Liter, L1 and XL1 concepts, the final version of the Volkswagen XL1 will be unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show.

It measures 3,888 mm in length, 1,665 mm in width and a mere 1,153 mm in height.

Coefficient of 0.189

The XL1’s aerodynamics will blow you away – literally. Its drag coefficient is just 0.189. They achieved this by creating a narrow rear track and replacing the exterior rearview mirrors with cameras.

Ubiquitous plastic and carbon fibre makes the vehicle’s components very light.

In all, the vehicle weighs 795 kilos.

Diesel hybrid

With a rechargeable hybrid drivetrain, the Volkswagen XL1 includes a two-cylinder TDI engine that produces 47 horsepower.

It is paired with an electric motor that delivers another 27 horses.

These connect to a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission.

According to the manufacturer, the production XL1’s fuel efficiency is an impressive 0.9 L/100 km.

Initially, 50 units will be built. After that, Volkswagen will build them on order.
