Ferrari unveils LaFerrari: strange name

Published on March 5, 2013 in Geneva by The Car Guide

After hypothetical names such as Ferrari F70 or F150, the replacement for the mythical Enzo is finally called LaFerrari.

It seems odd to call a Ferrari LaFerrari. The name sounds a little off to my ears. Personally, I would have chosen Enzo II or even F70.
Be that as it may, it is still an outstanding car benefitting from the latest wind tunnel results and a direct result of all those years of F1 experience at the Scuderia.

Thanks to its carbon fibre structure, the two-seater weighs a mere 1370 kg.
963 Horsepower Hybrid.

Yes, this superb exotic is a hybrid using the Hy-Kers propulsion system combining an 800 horsepower 6.2l V12 with a 163 horsepower electric motor.
Total power reaches 963 horsepower.
The only transmission offered is the automated F1-type, double clutch seven-speed gearbox.

Performance-wise:

-    0 to 100 km/hr requires less than 3 seconds;
-    0 to 200 km/hr requires less than 7 seconds;
-    0 to 300 km/hr requires less than 15 seconds;
-    Top speed is 350 km/hr.

Ferrari LaFerrari production is limited to 499 examples with a price approaching 1.2 million Euros.
