Mercedes-Benz M-Class Guard Introduces Armored SUV Protection

Do you have a long list of enemies with access to high calibre weapons?  If the answer to that question is 'yes,' then Mercedes-Benz has the vehicle for you: the Mercedes-Benz M-Class Guard edition.  The M-Class Guard is an armoured version of the luxury car company's mid-size SUV, featuring the ability to withstand fire from a range of handguns and hand grenades thanks to protected frame struts, mirror mounts, door gaps, and the vehicle's upgraded body shell.  Window glass is also laminated with a polycarbonate layer and complemented by formed steel.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the M-Class Guard conforms to something called 'protection level VR4,' which most likely has meaning to those in the personal security business.  The vehicle can be ordered with both the BlueTEC turbodiesel engine (258 horsepower, 457 lb-ft of torque), as well as the 4.6-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine (408 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque).  These mighty mills are required in order to haul the additional weight associated with the armour, as well as offer a stronger chance of escaping one's attackers.

Mercedes-Benz offers a full line-up of Guard model vehicles, ranging from the E-Class sedan all the way up to the S-Class full-size luxury four-door and of course the G-Class full-size off-road SUV.
