The 2015 Volkswagen Golf might look similar to the 2013 edition of the compact hatchback, but underneath its sitting on the new MQB platform that serves as the basis for a range of sedans, hatches, and crossovers from both VW and Audi.  The modular MQB platform helps the 2015 Golf grow in size, but not weight, and the car’s interior dimensions are more generous for front and rear passengers.

A trio of updated engines also come with the 2015 Volkswagen Golf, including a new 1.8-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder in the base model that will take the place of the current five-cylinder motor.  Good for 170 horsepower, this unit is joined by a revised 2.0-litre, turbodiesel four-cylinder (150 horsepower, 236 lb-ft of torque) in the TDI, and a 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder in the GTI (roughly 210 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque).  Every VW Golf model offers at least a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency for 2015.
