Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse cabriolet: World’s Fastest ‘vert

Published on April 19, 2013 in Shanghai by The Car Guide

A Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse cabriolet has just established a world speed record for open air motoring.

The car reached a top speed of 409 km/h on Volkswagen’s private test track, in Ehra-Lessien, Germany.

The driver of the fleet Bugatti was Anthony Liu, a wealthy Chinese individual.

The car’s drivetrain for the record run was a bone-stock, regular production item…for a Veyron, this means an outlandish quadriturbo W16 with 1200 horses in its stable.

This feat will be officially recognized at the Shangai Auto Show at the end of the month.

Only eight copies of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Car Edition will be produced, at a price of nearly 2 million $.
