Nissan recalls Pathfinder, Infiniti SUVs from 2013 model year for brake fix
DETROIT - Nissan is recalling more than 20,000 Nissan and Infiniti SUVs, including almost 900 in Canada, because a brake part can fail and make it harder for the driver to stop the car. The recall affects Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti JX SUVs from the 2013 model year. It affects 404 Infiniti JX35 and 472 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles in Canada, and 5,090 of the Infiniti and 14,168 of the Nissan vehicles in the U.S., Nissan Canada said Friday.
The automaker says an iron brake calliper part wasn't made properly and can crack or fail. If that happens, the brake callipers can move and hit the wheel. That can reduce braking power and increase the risk of a crash, although Nissan said it had no reports of crashes or injuries. The SUVs were made from Dec. 3, 2012, through Jan. 29, 2013.
Nissan Canada said owners will be notified in late April. Dealers will inspect the SUVs and replace the parts free of charge if needed.
