VW Upgrades Power Of Turbocharged Beetle and Gli

Volkswagen fans will be pleased to find out that two of the brand's sportier models are about to get just a wee bit quicker.  The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine found under the hood of the Volkswagen Jetta GLI and the Volkswagen Beetle Turbo is getting a 10 horsepower boost thanks in large part to mechanical updates that have reduced its weight and added more efficiency.

The engine, which will now offer 210 horsepower in total, will also gain up to nine percent better fuel economy, depending on the model and driving style.  The changes to the engine accompany a few styling tweaks to the Beetle Turbo and the GLI, including LED taillights for the latter and R-line goodies for the former.

The updates are being made to mid-year editions of the car as a bit of sweetener to anyone who might have put off purchasing the turbocharged VWs.
