New Flagship And Crossovers Could Expand Infiniti Lineup

The call for an Infiniti model that could serve as a 'halo' car for the brand has gone out again, this time from the lips of Infiniti president Johan de Nysschen. The vehicle would most likely take the form of an uber-luxury sedan that would sit above the Infiniti Q70 (previously the Infiniti M) in the automaker's lineup.

A new full-size luxury sedan wouldn't be the only fresh member of the Infiniti family, as de Nysschen also did more than hint that a number of crossover vehicles would also be flowing into Infiniti showrooms in the near future. Crossover models are continuing to expand their conquest of the sedan segment as buyers are lured by the competitive pricing and improved practicality that this class of vehicle has to offer over a traditional four-door car.

What else might be in store for Infiniti fans as the company prepares to expand the number of vehicles it offers in North America? A two-seat sports car - one that could theoretically compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Audi R8 - is still being considered by the brand. It would most likely make use of a hybrid drivetrain and resemble the Infiniti Emerg-E concept that debuted in 2012.
