Hyundai Santa Fe Investigated For Potential Axle Issue

Published on July 9, 2013 in Recalls by Benjamin Hunting

Another week, another fresh investigation from the NHTSA regarding automotive safety.  This time, it's Hyundai that is under the microscope - more specifically, the recently redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe.  The issue?  Complaints from owners of axle shaft failure that leads to a dangerous loss of control.

The NHTSA is looking at 50,000 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs from its most recent model year (2013).  The right front axle appears to be the culprit, and although only two complaints have been received by the federal regulator, the vehicle is so new that it has launched a preliminary investigation pending a possible recall action.
