Michelin Planning Return to F1

Michelin is preparing an announcement about its potential return to the F1 circuit later this week, according to a report by Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

Michelin stopped supplying tires to F1 after the 2006 season amid a war with rival Bridgestone.

Pirelli has been delaying an official announcement themselves on 2014 and this could help explain it. They’ve said that wider tires are needed to accommodate the ever-increasing torque form the turbo V6 power plants however Ferrari and Red Bull teams are campaigning to keep dimensions the same.

Teams are required to know the precise specifications by September 1st so it will be tough for Michelin to get in by 2014. 2015 might be a more likely date.
