Volkswagen Alltrack to hit North American shores in 2014

Volkswagen is planning to bring a competitor to the Subaru Outback to North America as early as 2014, sources say. The vehicle will be similar to the Alltrack concept car pictured above. A Passat Alltrack currently exists in Australia but this new vehicle will be based on the Jetta SportWagen instead.

The model will likely have higher ground clearance coupled with a more rugged outdoorsy look.

Volkswagen is attempting to pry some sales off the largely successful Outback which is Subaru’s-best-selling model in the U.S. There is no word on whether the Alltrack will come to Canada yet.
