Supercharge your Tesla in 20 min!

Tesla has added a supercharging station at its Freemont manufacturing facility for the public to use twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

"I was so excited to get the email that the supercharger is over here," said Jain, who was joined by his 12-year-old daughter, Pragya. "We live 10 minutes away and it's so convenient now," said Brijesh Jain, a Fremont tech employee who was the station’s first Tesla customer.

This is the 18th such station in Tesla’s growing network which adds two or three stations in the U.S. every week. The goal is to have them span from Los Angeles to New York.

"The stations take away the last hurdle that purely electric cars had," he said, moments before a ceremonial ribbon cutting. "It's a game changer for us and the whole industry; it shows that this is not a passing fad," said J.B. Straubel, the company's chief technical officer.

Charging a Tesla at home takes hours as opposed to the supercharging stations which take only 20 min and offer 120 kilowatts of power.
