GM to Offer Wirelss Phone Charging on 2014 Vehicles

According to a report from Bloomberg, General Motors will be integrating technology from the wireless company Powermat into some of its 2014 vehicles.

Rather than the nuisance of plugging in your phone each time to want to charge it, compatible phones with the proper cases can simply be placed on the pad and will begin charging.

GM owns part of Powermat and it would be the first time that company’s technology is offered in a vehicle. Toyota and Chrysler have offered limited availability of wireless charging in their Avalon and Dart models, respectively.

“The car is a major part of life for everyone with a smartphone,” Poliakine said in an interview. “And this is taking care of that part of life.” said Ran Poliakine, chief executive officer of Powermat Technologies Ltd.
