The third-generation BMW X5 will be presented to the public next month in Frankfurt.

We’ve also learned that the upcoming lineup will include a model with a plug-in rechargeable hybrid engine called the X5 eDrive.

The X5 eDrive will be distinguished from other versions by its rail system on the roof, its 21-inch wheels and lack of a seven passenger configuration.

Under the hood, there is a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 245 horsepower, coupled to an electric motor making 95 horsepower, which draws its power from a lithium-ion battery under the floor.

It goes from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 7 seconds.

The vehicle offers a choice of three types of driving modes: hybrid mode, economy mode the battery and fully electric mode.

In all-electric mode, the autonomy of the BMW X5 eDrive is only 30 kilometres at a maximum speed of 120 km / h.

Despite its large size, the sport utility vehicle advertises a  fuel economy of just 3.8 L/100 km.
