The Pope Now Drives His Own Renault 4

Published on September 16, 2013 in News by Gilles Olivier

The official vehicle of Pope Francis is a Mercedes-Benz ML but this very simple and humble man just offered a 1984 Renault 4.

It’s a car that belonged to Father Renzo Rocca and has 300,000 miles on it. The Pope has fond memories of the Renault 4 from when he lived in Argentina. The Vatican says the Renault was donated free of charge by an Italian priest who visited poor parishioners with it. Pope Francis intends to use his new car for personal travel around the Vatican grounds.

It would be extremely surprising that the Renault 4 may one day serve as official car, but with the latter, anything seems possible.
