Volkswagen Canada has announced the pricing for the new 2009 model year Routan, an all-new seven-passenger vehicle for the Canadian market. Starting at $27,975, the 2009 Routan becomes the most affordable 7-seat import nameplate van in Canada.

The 2009 Volkswagen Routan comes with a 4.0 litre single overhead cam V6 engine with 251 HP and 259 lb-ft of torque, the most standard torque in its class. It features a unique European-tuned suspension and steering matched for handling and improved driving dynamics in the tradition of Volkswagen's German engineering heritage. Mated with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission, the new 2009 Routan's fuel economy is rated by Transport Canada at 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway and 12.2 l/100 km in the city.

Instantly recognizable as a member of the Volkswagen family, with its stylized front grille and exterior treatments, the all-new 2009 Routan features an interior that creates an environment that is visually pleasing, modern, and meticulously detailed. The Routan offers full seating for 7 people in 3 rows with 930 litres of cargo space behind the third row. Its versatility for carrying more cargo increases to a cavernous 2,400 litres when the third row is stowed into the floor. The seatbacks in the second row can be folded
flat if even more space is required for longer items, with storage compartments and cup holders available throughout the vehicle.

Standard features in the all-new 2009 Routan include 3-zone climate control, CD player with 6 speakers, dual sliding side doors, front and side curtain airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP). Safety remains a priority for Routan passengers, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarding the 2009 Volkswagen Routan with a best-in-class safety rating, with maximum five star ratings for frontal collisions and for front and rear passengers in side impacts. Its uni-body construction and low centre of gravity allow the 2009 Routan to earn a best-in-class 4-star rating for resistance to rollover.

Starting at $27,975, the all-new 2009 Volkswagen Routan will go on sale at Volkswagen Dealers across Canada at the end of September.
