GM will officially unveil its large SUV family at the Los Angeles Auto Show, namely the 2015 versions of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon.

But in the meantime, the U.S. giant also announced its interest in having diesel and hybrid engine options for its large SUVs.

An Italian diesel engine

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks, will eventually be offered with diesel engines as well.

We're talking about a 3.0-litre V6 with 240 horsepower provided by the Italian company VM Automobili. This is the same engine found under the hood of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A hybrid engine

General Motors will likely do the same and outsource a good hybrid powertrain for its large SUV.
