Spotlight on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS Black Series

Published on October 17, 2013 in Spotlight on by Costa Mouzouris

The SLS AMG should be enough of a car to make experienced drivers nervous. The SLS AMG Black Series will make them shudder. Its 6.3-litre V8 pumps out 622 horsepower, it weighs 1,550 kilos, and it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

It’s the most powerful and most expensive car in the AMG line up, and it is a track special built in the AMG Performance Studio and using many components that are tuned specifically for use on a closed course.

The best place to test such a beast is on a racetrack, so carguideweb.com’s Costa Mouzouris is putting it through the paces at Willow Springs International Raceway in California during a “Best of AMG” drive programme.

What we can tell you so far is that if you have a heart condition, you should stay far away from the Black Series.

Check back in a few days for our test drive report.

We will also be sampling a variety of other AMG cars, on the track and on the street.
