Kia Soul EV: a Range of 200 kilometres

This would be the first all-electric vehicle that Kia sells on the world market, since in South Korea, Kia already sells fleets of its Ray EV model.

Currently, a fleet of prototypes is undergoing extensive testing in South Korea, Europe and North America ahead of the production of the electric version of the Kia Soul.

The Kia Soul EV highlights:

- Projector headlights;
- LED parking lights;
- LED brake lights;
- 16-inch alloy wheels;

The interior of the Kia Soul EV is composed of several recyclable materials including bioplastic, biofoam, and polyester antibacterial paint.

The prototypes currently under testing are powered by a 109 horsepower electric motor. It’s associated with a 27 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is accomplished in less than 12 seconds with a top speed of 145 km/h. Range is estimated at 200 kilometers.

With respect to the battery, three charging types are possible:
- Through a regular household outlet ;
- Via a 240 V which will take five hours to be fully charged ;
- Through a quick  100kW outlet which will take only 25 minutes.

The Kia Soul EV is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2014.
