Ford presents its new Edge Concept

Published on November 20, 2013 in Los Angeles by Gilles Olivier

It’s now a done deal: Ford has just revealed its Edge Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
This vehicle presents a shape that should be very similar to the production version, currently under development.

The dimensions of the concept

Its length is 4,689mm, while the wheelbase spans 2,848mm. The prototype’s width is 2,199mm while its height reaches 1,699mm.

In the looks department, we discover a crossover that receives completely restyled front and rear fascias, giving an overall silhouette that is more elegant and athletic than the current CUV. Up front, we find a new grille and streamlined LED headlights, while the rear taillights receive a similar treatment.

The interior layout of the Edge concept hovers between today’s world and a very near future. The restyled dashboard features improved ergonomics and places a 10 inch touch screen up front and center. Of course, being an authentic Ford vehicle, MyFord Touch technology is on board!

Safety systems and driver aids

The new vehicle benefits from all the latest safety and driver aid systems, including:
-    active park assist;
-    lane recognition;
-    adaptive cruise control;
-    blind-spot monitoring.

The EcoBoost engine in the Edge Concept takes advantage of Stop/Start technology, which turns off the engine every time the vehicle comes to a stop.
