Lexus LF-NX Turbo: A Concept One Step Closer to Reality

Published on November 20, 2013 in Tokyo by Gilles Olivier

After the LF-NX concept unveiled in Frankfurt, here comes the pseudo-concept Lexus LF-NX Turbo at the Tokyo International Auto Show.

This handsome compact SUV receives the brand’s signature trapezoidal grille, of course, while also benefiting from a very well sculpted silhouette, with graceful shapes and textures fit for a raised 5-door coupe.

More compact than the massive Lexus RX, it has a length of 4,640 mm versus its big brother’s 4,770 mm.

This vehicle has all the ingredients to fight the tenors of the segment: Audi Q5, BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLK, Porsche Macan and all the other luxury compact SUVs under development.

For the materials and detailing of the interior, designers got their inspiration from the « L-Finesse » style language that first bowed on the powerful LF-A coupe.

First turbocharged engine for the brand

For the very first time, Lexus engineers called in a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to power a member of their product line.
It is a 2.0 litre VVT-i unit, whose horsepower statistics are veiled under corporate secret for now.
